Chef de Partie - Job opportunity from mid October

Brixton Cornercopia is a small neighbourhood restaurant  and deli located in  the heart of Brixton Village Market. Time Out described us as a ‘pioneering locavore shop and restaurant that helped to kick start’ the food revolution in Brixton Village - The market is certainly now a very vibrant place to work.

 

We serve seasonal British food with a frequently changing menu showcasing the best local and seasonal ingredients. Localness  and sustainability are central to what we do. Our sources include the market, biodynamic farms, urban growers and foragers. Alongside the restaurant activities we are involved in many sustainability and local food initiatives. We sometimes run workshops, talk at events, and support small local food producers.

The right candidate will have enthusiasm, drive, a passion for British seasonal food and will thrive under pressure in a small but busy environment. If you are a fan of St. John and The Anchor and Hope, know your way around a black pudding or a faggot and believe a good pie can be a thing of beauty you will fit in well.

We want someone who is keen to contribute to menu’s and demonstrate creativity in all sections of the kitchen, someone keen to learn new skills such as curing and smoking, pickling and preserving. Someone short on ego who understands the real spirit of collaboration. Butchery skills would be a fine bonus. A professional, organised and mature work ethic is a basic requirement.

For the right person the post will be about more than just cooking, with opportunities to engage in community workshops, visit local suppliers and skill share. If you have  two years' experience in a similar role, good knowledge of British food and share our values we would like to hear from you.

Salary:
We offer a competitive salary depending on experience, plus additional benefits.
